British actress Mollie Sugden, who played "Mrs. Slocombe" in the classic sitcom Are You Being Served, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 86. Her blue-haired character was one of the cornerstones of the Grace Brothers department store alongside John Inman's "Mr. Humphries." Sugden's comic delivery was brilliant and that blue hair! I love British humor with its playful inuendoes - wink ;) wink ;). A job well done Miss Mollie - may you share laughter among the angels in Heaven.

Thanks to PBS, I was turned on to this show as a teenager in the U.S. Mrs. Slocombe was my favorite character. Molly Sugden has left us with a wonderful comedic legacy that many will be able to enjoy for years to come and I am unanimous in that.

Loved what you brought to us Molly Sugden; Your Mrs. Slocombe was so hilarious I cannot imagine how you were able to keep a straight face and deliver those lines! But deliver them you did and we are so fortunate to get to go along for the ride...laughing all the way! Rest In Peace

Who would have thought that "Mrs. Slocombe" would have lived longer than "Miss Brahms?"
I remember seeing her on one of my local PBS pledge beg-a-thons and she was as nice and friendly and jovial as a human being could be. Almost a polar opposite of her character on "Are you...." But it only goes to show her real talent for comedy. My the words "Mrs. Axelby and I ..." live on in comedy forever!

And she is unanimous in that. 8(

Boy Are You Being Served was one of the best comedy shows I have ever seen. I use to watch it in the afternoon when I was 18 years old and I cannot believe what I heard about the people who played mrs. slocombe and mrs. brahms. T.V. aint the way it use to be now a days!
