Harry Potter Movies in Hogwarts Packaging
With the movie making box-office magic as the opening weekend closes (seems like it's been out a lot longer than that), is it too early to think about Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on Blu-ray or DVD? Take a look at this sweet packaging for the first six movies on either format. What's especially nice is that the set comes with six discs and also has two empty slots so you can add the two parts of the seventh movie later. Unfortunately it's only available in France, and the discs won't play on Region A (for Blu-ray, that's North America and Japan) or Region 1 (DVD, North America) players. Such a shame... --David

How unfortunate that it is only available in France. Guess I'll have to move there for the benefits of the beautifully marketed Harry Potter DVD package, the wine, its countryside and of course, crusty French bread. Ooh la la!

Man, that would have made a great gift for my wife's birthday next month. I guess a trip to Paris to get one would even be better! :)

Although it costs quite a bit (as of November 2001), it is a fun little castle for the kids. The best thing is not just that it is electronic (sounds and movement) but that it connects to other (smaller/less costly) micro playsets (Hagrid's Hut, Hogwarts' Express and Forbidden Corridor thus far) and electrically powers their movement mechanisms as well. It looks like there is room for one more connection/expansion (Quidditch Field maybe?) This playset reminds me of micro-machines playsets.
Make sure you don't give to small children, it has lots of easy to lose (or choke on) pieces.
