"Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" - Coming Soon to a theater near you?
Chances are you've heard of this fantastic little book that
came out back in April and shot to the top of the Amazon books bestsellers
list. In case you haven't, the title basically says it all. A
literary mash-up that is actually incredibly fun to read but still remains
somewhat faithful to the original - I can't even formulate my thoughts in an
articulate way about this book - I can only gush, Pride and Prejudice and
Zombies is awesome! Read it!
Of course, someone in Hollywood snapped up the rights in about a second and I'm
already abuzz with anticipation to see my two movie favorites (Period drama and
the human flesh-devouring Undead) combined to light up a big screen for the world's
enjoyment.
As of yet there's been no official announcement on casting, director, etc - but
there is a rumor that the butt-kicking, zombie slaying, fiercely independent
and protofeminist Elizabeth Bennett will be played by Natalie Portman. Not sure
how I feel about that, though I've always found her resemblance to Kiera
Knightley a little freakish and I could see her wielding a dagger in an
empire waist dress.
I think my P&P&Z dream team would look like this: Director - Peter
Jackson (we know the man can do anything and I'd love to see the epic beauty of
Lord of the Rings combined with the over the top gore and humor of Dead
Alive). For Elizabeth I think either Emily Blunt or Emma Watson could be
fantastic, and Darcy...that's the tough one. I certainly wouldn't mind if
Matthew Macfayden came back and walked out of the mist one more time.
I've definitely been spending far too much time pondering who I'd like to see
make this movie and am curious about other opinions about there. Who do
you want to see as Darcy? And the rest of the Bennett sisters? Collins? What's your dream team? ---Kira

SO excited about this!
Wishlist:
Elizabeth: Anna Friel (from Pushing Daisies)
Darcy: Matthew MacFayden! Gerard Butler (?) / Hugh Dancy (Shopaholic)
Jane: Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia)
Bingley: Bradley Cooper (The Hangover)
Ok, really I have no idea but I hope they do it right!
Buffy Summers on June 23, 2009 at 03:28 PM
Ooh, I hope Hollywood doesn't mess this one up.
Elizabeth: Natalie Portman or Rachel McAdams
Darcy: Gerard Butler, Ed Norton, or (sigh) Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
Peter Jackson would do well at contrasting the beauty of the English countryside with the horror of the zombies. I would love to see what Quentin Tarrantino would do with this.

Personally I'd love to see them use the entire cast of the 2005 film version.

A couple of random thoughts - Will the Zombies be period zombies - eg slow moving and dim witted, so you have time to reload your single shot pistol (imagine the tension of quaking feminine hands mashing a ball down the barrel just in time to fire!), or will they be modern zombies that require rapid, high speed slashing swordplay (a la Kill Bill) just to keep up with? Secondarily, will there bodice ripping tearing of clothes ?

As Director, Tim Burton.
So, then you'd have Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, etc. acting.
Get on with it, already!

This will give new meaning to Mr. Darcy's famous line, "You have bewitched me..." This time he could say just prior to slashing an oncoming zombie to death... nice!

Well, Kiera did play Natalie/Amidala's double/decoy in "Phantom Menace" (at age 14). It's said their own mothers couldn't tell them apart when in full makeup.

The founder of Gucci, Guccio Gucci was born in 1881 in Florence, once worked as a bellman in London Savoy hotel. Although at that time leather and raw material were a luxury by the war's sake, but Gucci timely exerted originality, and produced lots of cloth bag, which became very popular. In 1939, the four sons of Gucci joined, and Gucci brand also transformed from individual career to family business. In 1953 the first overseas branch of Gucci was established in Manhattan 58th Avenue, which made Gucci became an international famous brand. More to the point, Gucci is the father of the product brand turn nowadays. In order to ensure quality, Gucci printed the brand name on their products, which was the first creative method in the history of the world of fashion.
Since established in 1921, Gucci has been focusing on noble style; the stye is costly and slightly hale masculinity. In 1947 Gucci bamboo hand bag was published, together with Moccasin shoes which carries ring. The Flower Scarf designed for Grace Kelly was well-reputed as well. Wearing Gucci represents a kind of high social status and symbol.
In 1995 Tom Ford chose famous supermodel to show his design for Gucci sexy autumn fashion series on the stage with minimalism while terribly hot image. Ford completely changed the past luxuriant style of Gucci and injected sexy gene to let Gucci become today’s sexiest brand
