Our Exclusive Interview with the Tina Fey of Web TV
Felicia Day has the best kind of celebrity, perfect for someone who jokes about spending more money on Kindle books than clothes. She's a superstar at Comic-con, and on Twitter, where she has more than 500,000 people following her. It's a cult fame, not a paparazzi-fueled fame; the kind of popularity that comes from starring in breakout projects like Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Joss Whedon's internet sensation. And it's the kind of fame that Day has earned in Tina Fey fashion by creating and starring in her own show, The Guild. Speaking of which, The Guild is now available on DVD, exclusively at Amazon.com (and comes with a free digital copy at Amazon Video On Demand). Unlike a lot of what I've seen online, it's worthy of my big-screen TV (and season 2, which is HD, looks particularly nice there). Day's "Liz Lemon" is "Cyd Sherman," a woman whose real life and virtual life collide hilariously. You don't need to be an online gamer to appreciate it (just like you don't have to be a doctor to appreciate House).
I hope you'll appreciate my conversation with Day, who talks about how she originally imagined The Guild as a traditional TV sitcom, what it was like to be a guest star on House and one of the "slayerettes" on Buffy, plus the best things about starring in Dr. Horrible and what the third season will hold for The Guild. -- Stephanie Reid-Simons, Amazon Video On Demand (Twitter: amazonvideo and Facebook: Amazon Video On Demand)
