Best DVDs of November: "Wall-E (Three-Disc Special Edition + Digital Copy and BD Live) [Blu-ray]"
What it is: The Disney-Pixar team has done it again with this charming story of a curious, determined robot named WALL-E that discovers a new purpose in life when he meets a fancy new robot named EVE and it's L-O-V-E at first sight. Follow WALL-E and a cast of entertaining characters in an imaginary future world (that doesn’t seem that far-off), in this heartwarming and funny movie that can be enjoyed by the whole family. It’s boy-meets-girl, robot-style, and the journey is a good one.
Why it's Significant: I know what you are thinking - more WALL-E? But come on, when was the last time a robot movie was this endearing? I have to admit that I am not normally a crazy, animated features fan (please don't hate me), however even I couldn’t resist hearting WALL-E. No it’s not ground-breaking, and yeah maybe it’s predictable, but it’s a cute story that surprisingly makes you think (save the planet anyone?) and leaves you with that happy ending that you would expect from a movie like this. And you know what, sometimes that is exactly what we need.
And in keeping with one of the themes of the movie, the WALL-E DVD package is composed entirely of paper and 100% recyclable cardboard, and the materials are printed with vegetable-based inks. Yup, smart robots saving our planet. Well Done. How cool is that? Also, this special edition is packed with tons of extras and it has Digital Copy - meaning you can transfer WALL-E to your ipod and obsess over him all day long. Aww... -- Lisanne
