Introducing Amazon Video On Demand

Downloading movies and TV shows is fine, but watching something immediately ... now, that's the stuff! And you can do exactly that at the just-launched Amazon Video On Demand. It's a new, PC and Mac-friendly way to enjoy shows like Heroes and movies like The Bank Job immediately. Miss this week's episode of Gossip Girl? Don't fret--it's here, commercial-free. And you can sign up for a TV Pass to guarantee that you'll get every episode as it airs (and save at least 5%).
Oh, and did I mention that the first couple of minutes of pretty much every title is free? Yup, it's true: You can try before you buy. We've also got a lot of stuff that's totally free: Watch it and it's yours today--and down the road. Speaking of down the road, once you've purchased something, you'll be able to access it later in Your Video Library. You don't even need to be at your own computer--you just have to be able to sign in to your Amazon account (and, of course, be connected to the web). Watch The Office at the office (you know, when you're on a break). Watch Waiting while you're waiting for a table at a restaurant. You'll still be able to do the download thing at Amazon Video On Demand, of course. Just use our Unbox video player and take your videos on the go, or download them to your TiVo DVR. Give it a try with a free episode of Heroes, 30 Rock or Lipstick Jungle. And let us know what you think (there's a feedback link in the video player on our new product detail pages). -- Stephanie Reid-Simons, TV Demander

Wish there was a way to opt out of that two minute preview. I use a slow computer to place orders for downloads that go to the tivo. Playing the two minutes effectively freezes up my computer. Bummer.

Can this new system be downloaded to unbox or is it necessary to download a watch it now player.

Will the shows have captions? As a hard of hearing person, it is very frustrating to be unable to take advantage of these new services because they do not have captions.

will any of the videos be captioned? it would be helpful for the deaf and hard of hearing customers of yours

I can't find any details on the format. Does this service support HD/wide format movies and tv shows?

There seems to be now way to view a description of the movie/show. There should be a choice between reading about the movie/show or watching a trailer. Defaulting to the trailer is annoying and takes too much time.
