George Carlin, 1937-2008

George Carlin

Stand-up comedian George Carlin died of heart failure on Sunday in Santa Monica, California. A Grammy winner and Emmy nominee, Carlin was best-known for edgy stand-up routines like "Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television" and poking fun at the peculiarities of language.  He also wrote books, was the first host of Saturday Night Live, and created many stand-up comedy specials for HBO.
