Breaking News: Ian McKellen back as Gandalf in "The Hobbit"
You LOTR fans undoubtedly raised your staffs in the air when New Line
announced The Hobbit would indeed be filmed (as two films) and produced
by Peter Jackson, whose long battle with the studio over moolah was
finally resolved. You may have even thrown a shire-partay when
Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy) was named the new director of the franchise.
Now, my precious, Gandalf will also return. Ian McKellen has told Britain's Empire magazine that he has been asked to reprise his Oscar-nominated role of Gandalf the wizard. McKellen's publicist warns that nothing's been signed, but given how keen McKellen's been on donning the white beard again, it sounds like pretty much a done deal.
Any casting ideas for the other Hobbit characters?

YEAH!!
I am glad to know it is going ahead. As a life-long Tolkein fan I think Peter Jackson did a phenominal job with LOTR and I am sure he will do The Hobbit justice as well. One comment for him though -the hair covering the hobbits feet was a little sparse - you might want to think about thickening it up a bit. :)
